From tee-to-green

We have a few venues on the tour calendar that brings golf closer to home, most notably The Open, but there’s something lasting and endearing about the annual BMW Championship that takes place at Wentworth Club in Surrey.
Adorned with centuries old oak trees and brilliantly crafted with beautiful water features away from the meticulously cut fairways, the venue is as much fun to talk around as it is to play golf on. That being said, playing the course proved to be less of a leisurely stroll for those players who fell short of the cut over the weekend.
Off the tee

With the Ryder Cup just a few weeks away, we saw the majority of Luke Donald's team tee it up at Wentworth ahead of the biennial showdown at Bethpage Black.
One such character was Shane Lowry, who secured a Captain's Pick just over a week ago. Like any huge tour venue, Wentworth's West course has a demanding layout that necessitates accurate, powerful shots off the tee as well as plenty of notoriously challenging holes, including a pair of par-5 finishing holes.

Lowry trusts the Srixon Z-Star XV ball, which boasts a FastLayer DG 2.0 core making it a real machine. This ball has been designed to give you excellent distance off the tee. If you’re teeing up your ball on a par-5 or lengthy par 4, this is the model that’ll give you monster distances down the fairway.
From the fairways

World No.16 Hideki Matsuyama also made an appearance, and he needed to be striking his irons purely and with consistency to handle all the many slopes and contours that constitute Wentworth West.
Hideki has been known to hit the fairways with a Srixon Z-Star Diamond golf ball. This ball offers both great distance and greenside control, helping players find the fairways and greens to secure birdies. With a extra-thin premium urethane coating, this ball has heaps of stopping power that pure hitters will be able to take advantage of. This is the kind of trusted feel you’ll want in a golf ball when you’re tackling a tricky par-3 like the 2nd hole at Wentworth.

Around the greens

It goes without saying that Championship-level golf courses boast very impressive, multi-tiered greens that can be as deceptive as they are stunning to look at. Top tour pros like Rory McIlroy have their own approach to putting that will include playing with a ball that looks best to them when they’re standing over the ball.

While the pros have all sorts of top-of-the-line gear at the ready in their bags, we’d like to recommend you a golf ball that most double-figure-handicap players will feel at home using. As the name implies, the Soft Feel from Srixon has a very endearing feel when you strike it that makes it easy to pop in the air and is particularly useful around the greens. This ball is also available in an optically pleasing yellow that helps it stand out more on and off the fairway.
We have a great range of golf balls, just like the ones we've mentioned today, in the pro shop, so if you’re in need of some new balls but you’re uncertain of which is best for you, we’re on-hand to help you at the golf club.
