This week we reveal our favourite driver of 2019 and explain why it's a certain winner in our eyes. Talking of winners, we also take a look back at why Rory McIlroy may need a bigger wallet following his victory at the Tour Championship and this week's Video of the Week sees four golfers trying to break a Guinness World Record.

The race for The Masters

Rory McIlroy has 15 million reasons to smile this week after winning the Tour Championship for the second time in his career - a record he now shares with a certain Mister Woods - and scooping a cool $15 million prize as a result.

The Northern Irishman carded a final-round 66 to finish the week on 18-under-par, four shots clear of Xander Schauffele in second and five clear of playing partner Brooks Koepka.

It was that Sunday pairing of McIlroy and Koepka that caught the eye as the two most dominant players on Tour this year went toe-to-toe in a Ryder Cup style battle. The duo are now ranked 1st and 2nd in the World Rankings, with Koepka occupying top spot as he has for most of 2019.

Between them they have won eight majors (four each) but remarkably neither has claimed The Masters. Whilst it may seem a long way away, you can be sure the target for both these players in 2020 will be to make sure they don the Green Jacket at Augusta next spring.

Flop shot required

Type ‘flop shot’ into Google and Phil Mickelson’s name will be at the top of the search. The five-time Major champion is the go-to guy when it comes to shots around the green, especially the flop shot. So, if you want to follow suit and impress your golfing partners, here’s our guide to this magical shot.

Technique

The first thing you must do is accelerate through the ball and stay aggressive. It's when we get a little scared or take our eye off the ball that things start to go wrong, all of which we can explain during a short game lesson.

Wedge

Your wedge plays a vital role with worn grooves and incorrect bounce leaving you at risk of a bladed shot through the green. Nightmare!

Cleveland’s brand-new CBX 2 wedges are arguably the best around to execute this shot properly, as the C-shape grind provides the perfect option to get the ball popping high up in the air and stopping quickly.

Spotlight | Titleist TS hybrids

TS2 or TS3?

You will probably recognise these names from the new drivers that Titleist released last year. Well, they've carried on their pursuit of speed and have conjured up these two beauties as a result.

Both offer extreme yet controllable distances, along with more forgiveness when compared to previous Titleist hybrids.

The TS2 has a larger head and is arguably easier to hit, whilst the TS3 comes with the SureFit CG for ball flight control.
