Slow play once again stole the headlines this week as a player took over two minutes to hit his putt on the PGA Tour - more on that below. But, whilst on the subject of the Tour and putting, we have a brilliant article below on the vast array of choice you have when it comes to your next putter as well as an impressive Video of the Week showing the best shots of 2019 so far.

What side of the debate are you on?

Englishman Eddie Pepperell has become just as famous for his witty Twitter account as he is for his golf game, and at the Northern Trust in New Jersey, he used his social media to highlight his displeasure at the ongoing slow-play debacle – particularly at one player.

American Bryson DeChambeau took over two-minutes to play a 70-yard chip and roughly the same time to line-up an eight-foot putt (only to go on and miss it). It's safe to say Pepperell was not a happy man, labelling DeChambeau an ‘unaffected single-minded golfer’ – without directly naming him (of course). Well, DeChambeau hit back saying:

“When you start personally attacking people on Twitter, it's like, come on, dude. Speak to me to my face about that."

Whilst all this was going on, Patrick Reed slipped through all the noise to claim his seventh PGA Tour win, beating Abraham Ancer by one-shot to jump up to second in the FedEx Cup standings with just two events to go.

Quiz of the Week

This week's PGA Tour event heads to the venue of one of the greatest ever Ryder Cups this week as the BMW Championship takes place from Medinah Country Club, Illinois. Who can forget Europe securing the 8.5 points on the final day in 2012 in order to win the Ryder Cup outright? So, here is the question:

Who were the European players that claimed those points in Sunday afternoon's singles matches on that famous day?

No distractions

Variety is the spice of life

Whatever happened to having a ‘textbook’ swing? If you were to watch golf on TV you’d see all sorts of different swings that have propelled these golfers to the top of the world, and the same can be said on the greens too.

There's definitely no single approach when it comes to how you grip your putter. You have a more traditional no-fuss approach that is favoured by the likes of Tiger Woods; a left-below-right grip which is a recent craze made famous by Jordan Spieth's putting heroics; and then the opposite extreme in anchoring that has recently been banned by the R&A.
